I'd like to participate but did I miss an address to send my contribution to?

January 12, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterJanet Miraglio (Caffinna)

Hi Janet,
Great question. In a few weeks I plan to send everyone who signs up a submission form that will have my mailing address and other details on it.

Thanks for stopping by!

what a fun project!
i will help...
it appears (from reading on ravelry) that we have till the end of the year to make a contribution so that gives me plenty of time.

January 17, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterkaren

Sounds like a cool project. Count me in and I'll go pull a skein of something white from my stash to knit into a piece for your project.

I've been thinking of picking random stitch patterns from a book I received as a gift and making a sampler. I'd be honored if you would use such a sampler as part of your display.

As for the chair idea... try Claire's Hammock Chair Project at: http://www.geocities.com/clairecassan/HammockChair.html

PM me on Ravelry and I'll send you my email address.

Hope to hear from you soon! Ü

I'd love to contribute to this project. Your concept is great, plus it shows people knitting is about more than grandma's making scratchy sweaters!

January 17, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterMichele

i too would be happy to participate, if you are still accepting people...

January 17, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterdrewbird

It sounds like an interesting project. I would love to contribute.

January 17, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterCathyR

I love this idea. Count me in.

January 17, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterBeth

I do not consider myself to be creative. Patterns I can follow, but would love to give this a try. Thanks for sending out the call for help on Ravelry.

Hi,
Sounds interesting....I'd like to participate.....please send me info & guidelines.
I found you on Ravelry where my ravatar is hknits, where you'll find a brief bio ....I am also currently a participant in a juried group fiberarts show: Economies of Scale" at the Phoenix Gallery in Chelsea (NYC) through the end of Jan.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Hannah

Karen,

That's right. The deadline is the end of the year. I'd love to have some pieces by May so I can put together an info. packet for galleries but, otherwise, I want everyone to have plenty of time.

LBBsM,

I'd be honored to use such a sampler! It sounds wonderful. Thanks for the link to the chair!

Adrienne,

I'll send you the form. Look for it within a couple of weeks. It will take me a bit of time to put the mailing list together.

Michele,

Thanks for participating. When I knit, I see so many creative possiblities. I hope the project illustrates all of the versatility of the medium.

drewbird,

I'm still accepting people. I hope to get to 500 participants.

CathyR,

Thanks for contributing!

Beth,

Wonderful. I can't wait to see your contribution.

Krista,

Anything goes! I can't wait to see what you create. I wish I was a little better at following patterns. I tend to like to mosy off in my own direction.

Hannah,

Congrats on your show! I look forward to seeing your work. I'll add you to the mailing list.

January 17, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterSticks and Stitches

This sounds really cool I would love to participate!

January 17, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterJessica

This sounds like it could be fun. I am interested.

January 17, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterShasta

Count me as a tentative yes... I really want to participate but don't want to say so for sure then forget and let you down. Do you have a fiber preference? Ideally I would love to go get something woolly and lacy but I do have quite a bit of white worsted acrylic already that needs a project.

January 17, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterMolly

Jessica,

I think it will be wonderful. Glad you're participating. You'll hear more from me soon.

Shasta,

Can't wait to see your creation!

Molly,

Any yarn or soft fiber will do. If you decide to participate, do what inspires you. Anything goes. I'll include you on the mailing list.

Best to all of you!

Shan

I'm in! Want to use some stash up anyway. I loved to play with milkweeds as a child in rural Iowa, love the idea.

January 17, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterBetty from Colorado

I'd like to participate! My ravelry thing is LauraPhanKnitter. Look forward to starting my white creation!

January 17, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterLaura

I am delighted to participate. I have been part of many fiber installations, solo and collaborative in the past 20 years, but until now, I have kept knitting all to myself. This will be my first knitted installation, and I plan to incorporate actual milkweed (and dogbane which is very similar) into some yarn spun specially for my contribution. Cozy near Philly.

I'd love to participate as well. I have some wonderful natural white FinSheep roving that's been lying around for a year. It'd be perfect to spin up and knit something lacy for you. Light, soft, single-ply is my plan at this moment. Can't wait!

January 18, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterMerrie

I'm so glad you posted about this on Ravelry. I'd love to be part of the project.

I would love to contribute. People leave their unwanted yarn on my doorstep like abandoned babies! I have quite a few odd balls of white that I have no idea what I would ever make out of them, but they would be perfect for your project.

January 18, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterVicki Brower

I just recently joined raverly...glad i stopped at this forum.I would love to be part of this project have some great yarn just waiting to be brought back to nature!!!

January 18, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterBrooke

I am interested in participating, what is the time frame? Maybe it was in the information above and I missed it. In any case, I have lots of white yarn, fingering weight (lace weight) so I'll think of something...

January 18, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterMilly

sounds like a wonderful project to contribute to. count me in.

January 18, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAmy

I would love to help. I'm a big fan of milkweed and the butterflies that love it. i've got some long abandoned white yarn that would be perfect.

:)

January 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterSunnyKate

I have some white yarns that I will never use otherwise. I would be happy to make you something simple, maybe large and lacy on big needles?

January 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAJ in AZ

Brooke,

Thanks! I've added you to the list.

Milly,

You didn't miss it. I've just added it. I don't need final pieces until the end of the year. I'll email more info. soon. Any fiber weight is great!

Amy,

Wonderful! You'll hear from me soon.

SunnyKate,

Can't wait to see what you make with your abandoned yarn!

AJ,

That sounds beautiful. I love working on really large needles.

January 19, 2009 | Registered CommenterShan

I too would like to participate.

January 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterBev Matheson

I'd love to participate. I'll be using my own natural white handspun. Inga

January 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterInga

I love this idea. I don't think I ever saw milkweed. What will you do for the actual seeds? I looked at some pictures and it seems the seeds are brown, while the filaments that keep them airborn are white.

Please count me in.

January 19, 2009 | Unregistered Commenternommh

Sounds like a fabulous project; I'd love to participate!

January 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAngela

I'd like to participate. I joined the Pod group on Ravelry. My id is TosaGirl.

January 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterKathryn

Oh, how neat! I really enjoyed visiting the "Radical Lace & Subversive Knitting" exhibition at the Indiana State Museum last summer; it would be beyond cool to be involved in something like it. Absolutely count me in! I'm on Ravelry if you need to find me!

January 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterClara Rutherford

I'd like to participate!

January 19, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterJennie

Bev,

Welcome. You'll be hearing from me soon.

Inga,

That sounds perfect!

nommh,

That's correct. The seeds are brown. We are using the filament as our inspiration. The pod will be all white on white. When you open a dry pod, the white fluff (filaments) spills out and floats away. It is lovely and ethereal, which will be true of our stitched pod! Thanks for your interest!

Once of these days I'll post links to naturalist sites about the plant.

Angela,

Great. Can't wait to see what you create!

stainedglassmiss,

I'll add you to the mailing list. You can let me know for sure at a later date.

Kathryn,
Excellent. See you at Ravelry!

Clara,

I'll add you to the list. I just started a Milkweed Project group at Ravelry. It's called "The Pod." Feel free to join!
